The paper helps to find out the inter-relation between the “Learner Support Services”and “Sustainability in Open and Distant Learning ”in the context of LIS education offered by NSOU, WB. The study reveals the short comings of the system in spite of its various advantages i.e. students convenience and equitable access to education etc. The paper highlights that the accountability of ODL institutions is directly proportional to the effective learning of the ODL students and vice-versa. Paper suggests in order to increase the effectiveness of the ODL a well planned integrated library system should be incorporated. Public libraries”, concerned “College libraries” and a well equipped library of the ODL institution itself should work together on the basis of co- operation and co-ordination . A linkage between the “ library usage” and “ student attainment” of ODL institution must be established to measure the effectiveness of the educational objectives of ODL institution.en_US
